Crisler Arena Phase 2 renovations to begin


Work on the first phase of Crisler Arena renovations is nearing completion in Michigan, US in mid-2011 with designs for $52 million phase two due to be presented soon.


The proposal will include a new entrance to the arena along with an atrium. The arena interior will receive a major makeover in this phase with the seating and concourses upgraded. Phase two will also carry out an expansion of the arena by about 63,000 gross square feet for new fan entrances, extra retail and ticketing spaces, and a private club area.

Plans have been taken to refurbish seating arrangements for disabled people. The concourses will be revamped and expanded to provide space for more restrooms, concessions and other fan facilities. Also, all seats across the entire facility will be replaced. The second phase is expected to complete by 2014 end post approval.

The first phase of the arena renovation involved overhauling of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as a cosmetic makeover of its exterior. Other work conducted in this phase include replacement of seats in the lower bowl which comprise aligning aisles with entryways as well as providing additional handrails and disability seating amenities.
